Summit on Development Challenges in the UK Independent Feature Film Sector

On Tuesday 31 October 2023, British Screen Forum Members and invited guests had the opportunity to a summit discussing the development challenges in the UK independent feature film sector. The event included panels on the extent to which UK indie feature production faces development funding challenges which add to its acute issues in maintaining a competitive edge at home and in world markets; ways of improving commercial financial returns for feature-film-oriented production companies; innovative approaches to public funding; and assessing risk in development. This summit was intended as a follow-up to British Screen Forum’s Hell & High Water – A Study on Project Development in the UK Screen Sectors, released in March 2023.
