EU Relationship Priorities Policy Roundtable

On: 14 November 2024 from 10.15am – 11.30am
(in person registration and coffee from 10.00am)

At: Central London location (W1F postcode) AND via Video Conference

For: British Screen Forum Members

In our recent discussions with DCMS and British Screen Forum Members, the UK’s relationship with the EU and the policies which could affect the Screen Sectors have been flagged as an area where Government is interested in hearing our views about what should be a priority in any future bilateral discussions.

Given this interest, we thought it would be helpful to have a meeting to discuss what BSF priorities should be in advance of any future bilateral trade discussions between the UK and the EU.

Possible areas for focus:

  • Discussion on the EU/UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement and its effects on our industries
  • Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) post Commission report
  • Content Quotas for European productions and inclusion of UK productions in that
  • Data Adequacy agreement
  • Implications of the Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA) for the industry. Potentially looking at whether compliance with DSA could be considered as a good indicator of compliance with OSA with Ofcom
  • Copyright in the Digital Single Market Directive
  • Funding opportunities for content and UK screen sector businesses’ capacity to access them
  • Esports and video games Resolution from EU Parliament and how that can be built on
  • Potential policy activity around harmonised rules for gamer protection
