October 2017 Council Meeting

Items on the agenda at the October Council Meeting included:

  • Marketing with Influencers: presentations followed by discussion with:
    • Timothy Armoo (CEO, Fanbytes); and
    • Shahriar Coupal (Director of Advertising Policy and Practice, ASA);
  • Key IP Issues for the AV Sector: a private discussion for Members about key issues of concern for the industry with Tim Moss (CEO, IPO) and Ros Lynch (Copyright and IP Enforcement Director, IPO);
  • Getting Maximum Value out of the Archive: presentations followed by discussion with:
    • Richard Davidson-Houston (Head of All 4, Channel 4);
    • Bill Thompson (Partnership Lead, Make It Digital, BBC); and
    • Heather Stewart (Creative Director, BFI);
  • Update on AVMSD, from Kathleen Stewart (Head of International Broadcast Policy, DCMS); and
  • Updates on the latest developments around BSAC’s engagement with a number of ongoing policy issues, including:
    • the proposed changes to EIS/SEIS for film and TV productions;
    • the Migration Advisory Committee’s call for evidence on the economic and social impacts of the UK’s exit from the European Union and also on how the UK’s immigration system should be aligned with a modern industrial strategy; and
    • the BFI’s commission on Independent Film.
