January 2014 Council Meeting

The 196th BSAC Council Meeting took place on Thursday, 23 January 2014.

This was a private meeting for the BSAC Membership and invited guests.

Items on the agenda included:

– Copyright Matters, including discussions on the establishment of the Copyright Hub Partners’ Board; the IPO consultation on ECL; the EU Copyright Consultation; and the draft secondary legislation relating to orphan works

– an explanation of the BBFC New Classification Guidlines, by David Cooke (Director, BBFC)

– an overview of the Creative Industries Economic Estimates official statistics, from Tom Knight (Deputy Head of Analysis, DCMS)

– a panel discussion on Meeting the Demand for Scripted Content, featuring Nick Betts (Controller of Business, Drama, Films and Acquisitions, BBC), Jane Villiers (Literary Agent, Sayle Screen) and Stephen Garrett (Executive Chairman, Shine Pictures).
