Summit on Development Challenges in the UK Independent Feature Film Sector
On: Tuesday 31 October 2023 from 9.00am – 5.00pm
At: Central London Location (SE1 postcode)
For: British Screen Forum Members, Associate Members, and Invited Guests
British Screen Forum is pleased to announce the first event dedicated entirely to project development issues in the UK’s independent feature film sector. The Summit is intended as a follow-up to British Screen Forum’s Hell & High Water – A Study on Project Development in the UK Screen Sectors, released in March 2023.
For the first Summit of this kind, British Screen Forum has chosen to focus entirely on development challenges as they affect the UK’s beleaguered independent film sector. Whilst the acute issues faced by the sector have been well documented in the past few years, most of the research and public debate has tended to focus on production alone, with development often the poor relative. The ambition of the Summit is to help correct this imbalance and create an open discussion space for the industry and the public sector to dare imagine new innovative solutions to the challenge of chronic underinvestment in this vital part of films’ life cycle.
Summit speakers confirmed to date include:
