Business Seminar: “Creative” AI and the Screen Sectors

On Tuesday 20 June 2023, British Screen Forum Members and invited guests had the opportunity to attend a business seminar exploring creative AI and its current and future impacts on the screen sectors. Attendees heard a ministerial keynote from Rt Hon Sir John Whittingdale OBE MP (Minister of State for Media, Tourism and Creative Industries, DCMS and Minister for Data and Digital Infrastructure, DSIT), while Cliff Fluet (Partner, Lewis Silkin) provided a scene setting presentation. This event also featured showcase presentations of current and future use cases of generative AI highlighting from Rianna Dearden (Narrative Lead, Charisma.ai), Timo Kunz (Founder & CEO, Aflorithmic), Joe Lyske (Inventor and Co–Founder, DAACI), and Nick Lynes (Co-Founder & Co-CEO, Flawless). Attendees also heard a panel discussion on the key policy, ethical and commercial challenges that are being thrown up by the technology chaired by Cliff Fluet (Partner, Lewis Silkin) and featuring Maria Luciana Axente, (Responsible AI & AI for Good Lead, PwC), Liam Budd (Industrial Official – Audio and New Media, Equity), Dr Alex Connock (Senior Fellow, Oxford University), and Rachel Lyske (CEO, DAACI). Blake Bower (Director, Digital and Technology Policy, DSIT) also provided the view from Westminster on the AI White Paper and the screen sectors.
