BSAC Seminar: AI and the Screen Sectors
BSAC has held a half day seminar which highlighted the transformative effect that AI is having (and will continue to have) upon the screen sector, and explored some of the implications that this will have for business models and public policy.
The morning was introduced by Cliff Fluet (Partner, Fieldfisher), who provided an overview of the current and potential developments that this space will have in the future.
This was followed by a panel, on the theme ‘How AI is transforming the Screen Sector’, featuring Jatin Aythora (Chief Architect, BBC), Gareth Deakin (Head of Business Development, AI Music), Diarmuid Moloney (Founder & CEO, Rotor Videos) and Jo Twist (CEO, Ukie), and chaired by Cliff Fluet. The panellists demonstrated examples of some of their current AI projects and discussed some of the potential business uses that this technology might have in the future.
The second panel focused on the ‘Public Policy Implications of AI in the screen sector’. In a a session chaired by Lord Clement-Jones (Chair, Lords Select Committee on AI), Sue Daley (Head of Cloud, Data, Analytics and AI, TechUK), Tom Fiddian (Innovation Lead – Creative Economy, Innovate UK), Sana Khareghani (Head of the Office for AI, DCMS and BEIS) and Jon Zeff (Independent Media Consultant) shared their thoughts on the current shape of the landscape and how this could best be supported in the future.
